MS Algebra

Measurable Outcome

By June, 2024, 50% of English Learners (Level 1-4) will enroll in Math 7HN or higher (rising 7th grade) or Algebra 1 or higher (rising 8th grade) for the 2024-25 school year.

Strategy 1

Increase school communication about open enrollment to ensure all school staff (including elementary schools) communicate a shared message around open enrollment and mathematics course pathways.

Strategy 2

Improve teachers’ implementation of the Framework for Engaging & Student-Centered Mathematics Instruction.

Strategy 3

Increase systems of support during the school day, after school and summer to help students achieve success in mathematics.

Measurable Outcome

By the end of the 23-24 school year, students who score basic or below basic on the Reading Inventory will grow two bands as indicated by the suggested growth reports in the SAM database.

Strategy 1

Increase the frequency of formative integrated reading and writing tasks (i.e. reading responses, annotations)

Strategy 2

Increase opportunities to explicitly teach vocabulary using evidence-based methods (i.e. semantic feature analysis, analyzing word parts, Frayer model, defining words in context, semantic mapping, etc.)

Strategy 3

Utilize small groups to increase opportunities for students who need extensions
