ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS

Outcomes

  • The percentage of Students with Disabilities meeting or exceeding screener benchmark will increase by 10 percentage points from fall to spring.
  • The percentage of students meeting Spring reading screener benchmark will increase by 10% from beginning of year to end of year as measured by iReady.

Strategies

  • Utilize small groups and intervention to increase opportunities for students who need more practice to master standards
  • Increase opportunities to explicitly teach vocabulary using evidence-based methods (i.e. semantic feature analysis, analyzing word parts, Frayer model, defining words in context, semantic mapping, etc.)
  • Build student background knowledge using evidence-based methods (i.e. mind maps, recognize patterns, critical and creative thinking strategies, utilizing intentional text sets)
  • Access to Rigor: Provide opportunities for talent development such as Young Scholars, STEAM, or AVID, both during and outside the school day.

 

SUCCESS IN ALGEBRA BEFORE HIGH SCHOOL

Outcomes

  • By the end of the 2024-25 school year, the percentage of Multilingual Learners qualifying for a verified credit in Algebra 1 prior to the start of 9th grade will increase from 37% to 50%.
  • By the end of the 2024-25 school year, the percentage of students who qualify for a verified credit in Algebra 1 or higher prior to the start of 9th grade will increase from 75% to 85%.

Strategies

  • Increase systems of support during the school day, after school and summer to help students achieve success in mathematics.
  • Improve teachers’ implementation of Framework for Engaging & Student-Centered Mathematics Instruction.
  • Increase school communication about open enrollment to ensure all school staff (including elementary schools) communicate a shared message around open enrollment and mathematics course pathways.
  • Access to Rigor: Provide opportunities for talent development such as Young Scholars, STEAM, or AVID, both during and outside the school day.

 

DISCIPLINE

Outcomes

  • By the end of the 2024-2025 school year, we will reduce our risk ratio by at least 1% for Multilingual Learners (ELP 1- 4) from 3.4% to 2.4%

Strategies

  • Implement mandatory Tier 1 SEL and PBIS practices during protected time slots in the school schedule, including Mindfulness Moments, Community Circles for Elementary, and Restorative Advisory Meeting for Middle/High schools, alongside three Signature Practices at all levels.
  • Provide tailored professional development for teachers and staff on Tier 1 wellness practices, including culturally responsive teaching, conflict resolution, and trauma-informed care. Offer specialized training on restorative justice for effective disciplinary approaches.
  • Utilize an MTSS framework to establish and organize a schoolwide continuum of proactive behavior and wellness supports which will provide targeted interventions to students at different level of need.

 

SCHOOL CHOICE 1

Outcomes

  • By the end of the 2024-25 school year, the percentage of multilingual learners meeting expected progress as measured by WIDA Access will increase from 68% to 75%.

Strategies

  • Engage Multilingual Learners in academic discourse in all content area courses
  • Increase explicit teaching of reading and writing strategies across content areas
  • Increase the use of verbal, written, and visual scaffolds and support across content areas
